The Everyday Maternity Dress That Shows Off Your Bump | Being Naomi

The Everyday Maternity Dress That Shows Off Your Bump

4 October 2020

When I was still in the ‘Is She, Isn’t She’ pregnant stage, I stuck to wearing looser clothing like leggings and baggy T’s but as soon as my bump became more obvious, it became more comfortable to wear dresses so nothing was pressing around my middle.
I thought, since I’m only going to be pregnant once, I want to show off my bump in a really figure hugging maternity dress!

Where To Buy A Maternity Dress

Surprisingly, there were a lot of high street stores that had a maternity line, which I had no idea!
These shops also had clothes which aren’t sold as ‘maternity’ but works well with a bump.
Here are a few in my area in London.

The Search For A Simple But Versatile Dress

There was certainly a lot of choice but many of them were mini dress styles, had a pattern or were made of that silky synthetic type material.

I just wanted a simple, un-patterned, well-cut style that I could dress up or down and since I was pregnant from Winter to Summer, I wanted to wear it through all seasons.

Maternity Ribbed Bodycon Dress

This is a Polyester & Cotton dress but it feels like lovely stretch cotton.
It’s fits around the bump perfectly without having those gathered bits at the side and is really flattering.

The popper fastening means you can adjust it as your boobs grow! So useful.

As someone who’s never really worn a bodycon, I felt pretty and proud of my bump.
I bought this in Black and Khaki and wore it on its own with sandals in summer and combined with leggings and a jacket when it was colder.

Sleeveless Bodycon Maternity Dress

Such a versatile dress, it was basically my daily uniform.

My favourite ways to wear this was:

– White trainers and an open shirt over the top
– Leggings, ankle boots and a jacket

But be warned that I think Mamalicious sizes are made for the taller size so me being 5″4, I had to get the length shortened for it to hit below the knee.

Final Thoughts

I think these dresses will look great on any figure and are so versatile to dress up or down. These dresses made me feel good and I could clearly see baby Jin growing bigger and bigger!

These stores will naturally change their line of clothing but I found that New Look and Mamalicious usually have these 2 products as their staples so check it out if you’re starting your journey now (^_^)
